Webflow vs. Astro for SaaS Marketing Sites: When to Pick Which
Webflow or a code-first framework like Astro? An honest comparison of speed, SEO, editing experience and cost for SaaS and B2B marketing websites.

We build on Webflow every week — and we also ship code-first sites with Astro. Neither is “better”. They solve different problems. Here’s how we decide.
The short answer
- Pick Webflow when marketers need to build and change pages visually, without a developer in the loop.
- Pick Astro when performance, custom integrations, and version-controlled content matter more than visual editing.
Editing experience
Webflow’s Designer and Editor let non-technical teams launch landing pages in an afternoon. That speed-to-publish is a real growth advantage.
Astro content usually lives in Markdown/MDX files in Git (or a headless CMS). That’s great for developers and writers comfortable with a pull-request workflow — less great for a marketing team that wants to drag sections around.
Performance & Core Web Vitals
Astro ships zero JavaScript by default and only hydrates the components that need it. It’s hard to build a slow Astro site.
Webflow sites can be fast too, but third-party scripts, heavy interactions and large CMS lists add up. You need discipline.
SEO
Both can rank. What matters is:
- Clean semantic HTML and a sensible heading structure
- Fast mobile load times
- Structured data (Organization, Article, FAQ, Breadcrumb)
- A consistent publishing cadence with internal links
Astro makes structured data and sitemaps trivial to generate from your content. Webflow handles basics well; advanced schema usually needs custom code embeds.
Cost
| Webflow | Astro on Vercel | |
|---|---|---|
| Hosting | Site plan per month | Free tier covers most marketing sites |
| Editing | Built in | Git / headless CMS |
| Dev needed for changes | Rarely | Usually |
Our rule of thumb
If your marketing team ships more pages than your dev team, Webflow. If your site is content-heavy, performance-critical, or deeply integrated with your product, Astro. We build both: see Webflow and Framer development and Astro and custom builds.
